Joe Knight, Business Literacy Institute

Are you as financially literate as you'd like to be?  Are you able to use the numbers to both manage and lead your organization?  For example, are you able explain  the difference between profit and cash so that everyone understands why your company might be profitable but not have any cash?  Are you using the concept of free cash flow to make long-term strategic decisions?

In this presentation by Joe Knight, co-author of Financial Intelligence, A Manager's Guide to Knowing What the Numbers Really Mean, attendees will:

  • Discuss the meaning of the key elements of the income statement

  • Participate in a vivid demonstration of the difference between profit and cash and discuss the implications for businesses

  • Review key measures (EBIT, EBITDA, free cash flow, and so on) and their role in decision-making
