Supplier Recognition Awards Evolve into Supplier Report Card Program
We are excited to
continue the Supplier Recognition Awards as the FPPA Supplier Report
Card Program for 2007. This will promote better cooperation between
platemakers and suppliers and assist associate members in understanding
the needs of their platemaker partners.
Platemaker members
were sent a ballot package and were asked to rate the supplier companies
with whom they are currently doing business. Suppliers will be rated in
such areas as sales support, technical support, order fulfillment &
customer service, and product enhancement opportunities.

Phase 2 of Plate Material Test
to be Presented at FPPA Convention
FPPA’s Technology Task
Force, in cooperation with Clemson University, will present Phase 2 of
the plate material test. Participating suppliers in this year’s tests
include DuPont, MacDermid, and Flint. Phase 2 will be a four-color
profile test from last year’s Phase 1 leaders. Last year’s tests
provided information on density, dot gain, and clean print data. This
year’s tests will determine whether last year’s entries would have
performed even better if mounted the way other top performers were
configured.
Dr. Page Crouch will
present the test results at
FPPA’s 10th Annual Convention, February 18-20, 2007.
Maximize Your FPPA Investment by Volunteering
You’ve heard the old adage, you get out of
something what you put into it. Nowhere is that adage more true than
participation in a trade association. Those individuals who serve on
committees or the board of directors have an opportunity to network with
their industry peers on a regular basis, in a unique setting. These
participating volunteers typically have an “inside track” on what is
occurring in the marketplace. Take this opportunity to help shape the
future of the FPPA and become more plugged in to the industry.

APPI Savings Solutions: Managing
Increasing Utility Costs
As 2006 comes to a close it is a good idea
to review developments over the past year. The electricity markets were
spared from extreme price escalations due to lack of major hurricane
activity like that experienced in 2005. Moderate weather predictions
also helped to keep electricity pricing from substantial increases.
Still, costs overall are higher than they were several years ago. The
trend of increasing prices appears to be here to stay.
