Lower Utility Costs through the APPI Savings Solutions Program

SALISBURY, MD, December 30, 2003 — Flexographic Pre-Press Platemakers Association (FPPA) announces the addition of the APPI Savings Solutions program to its membership benefits. This new program identifies and implements options that reduce the costs of each member's energy, utility, and telecommunications services.

The program is managed by APPI, an independent utility consulting firm. As the consultant for the association and its members, APPI navigates the maze of utility services by analyzing, negotiating, and managing critical components. These services include electricity, natural gas, water, waste management, freight, check processing, credit card processing, and telecommunications.

APPI operates independently. It is not affiliated with any utility, vendor, or energy supplier. Client relationships are based on a performance, value-added model. Members pay no upfront fees or retainers for the service. APPI's staff includes engineers, tariff and regulatory specialists, financial and legal professionals, and account management advisors with expertise in utility analysis, tariff auditing and energy deregulation.

Bill Wolters, president of the Texas Automobile Dealers Association, speaks of his experience working with APPI, "One of the cornerstones of our endorsement of APPI is its record for dependability, quality of service and strength in the marketplace. In addition to energy management, the Savings Solutions Program includes utility audit services. APPI performs an analysis of the business' existing utility services (water, waste management, freight, check processing, credit card processing, and telecommunications) to detect overcharges and erroneous fees within the current supplier network. The process of making the adjustments and the recovery of refunds from suppliers is handled by APPI. In addition to receiving refunds, businesses are also able to reduce future costs. APPI's utility audit analysis reveals the true costs of services used every month by the business, and provides solutions to reduce operating expenses.

An example of the value-added services available to association members comes from the Health Care Association of New Jersey: APPI reviewed the utility bills of a healthcare facility with over 100 telecommunication lines; the account is being streamlined to T-1s. Savings for waste removal combined with the telecom changes will result in savings of almost $17,000 over two years.
